I’m following a training plan for the Run Liverpool Marathon and whilst it’s just numbers on a calendar it seems quite safe & abstract, today was the 1st Long Run.

8 miles is / was further than I’d ever run before, and I’ll admit to a certain amount of disbelief in me actually getting to the end.

The happy story is I did. I ran 3.5 miles along the Lancaster Canal & then turned around & walked back. The 8th mile was a small cheat, as the canal is 1/2 a mile away from my house, and I walked it.

It took me 2:02:42, yes I know it’s not Speedy, I’m a bit of a plodder & I didn’t run all the 7 miles. I have some sort of mental block that seems to stop me running after 1.5miles and I  slow down for a short walk. I’m fairly certain it’s all in my head, but even when I try & push myself further it’s always around the 1.5mile mark.

It was knackering, and I was very surpised by the round of applause my huwsband & daughter gave me when I staggered through the doorway!

Also many thanks to;

JO365 , Runningman856 , KnittingPenguin , Fairweatherrun & malvernrunner

who all cheered me out the door & back again via twitter, muchly appreciated guys!

Now I’m going to eat all the food in the house & work out what I can do for tomorrows “cross training” that won’t cost me any money!
